Average Time Between 'Created' and 'In Progress'

Step 1: Add a Data Source.

Step 2: Choose the ‘Time between’ metric from the available options.

Step 3: Select “Created” as the “From date” field.

Step 4: For the “To date” field, choose “First date in status” and select the “In Progress” status.

Step 5: Opt for “Shown in Days” and customize your results further, if necessary (toggle friendly format, exclude items with 0 metric values, change chart colors, etc.)

Step 6: Switch from Sum to Average calculation.

Step 7: Display by 'Created'

“First date in status” and “Last date in status” are date fields that can be best utilized with ‘Time between’ and ‘Time since’ metrics. You can select one or multiple statuses, and for multiple statuses, the first date when the issue transitions to any status in the list is considered.

Similarly, with “First date in assignee” and “Last date in assignee,” you can display the time between ‘Created’ and the first date when an issue is assigned to one or multiple assignees. Alternatively, you can track the last day in ‘Unassigned’, among other use cases.
